Question:
Hi. I was using this cooker and it literally exploded with burning hot lentil curry rocketing to the roof. Is this faulty and should I use it again?
Answer: Language is very important. Unless you have very dramatic photo's my guess is that the lid stayed completely on. Correct? I suspect you either a) filled the cooker too high and inadvertently blocked the 'release valve' or b) that you released the steam 'quickly' when perhaps it should have been released slowly. Either way I suspect the steam release valve became accidentally blocked, causing pressure to build up and eventually 'blow' the steam release valve, allowing some of the contents to escape suddenly. I hope that puts your mind at rest. -

What's 'smart' about it? Is this just branding or functionality?
Answer: I actually returned this purchase because the non-stick surface had a scratch on it when I received it. However, I did have a stainless steel version of this model for many years and it worked well. I really liked it as the steam release was calm and controlled - not like some pressure cookers that are terrifying! However, Smart is probably branding rather than functionality. -

Answer: Hi, the depth of the pan is 17cm / diameter inside 22cm and 24cm with borders on top. -

Does it work on gas and electricity?
Answer: I have used mine on a gas hob at home and gas BBQ without issue. I would expect it to work well on an Electric hob but have not tried.
