neat Document Scanners Editorial Review
** NeatDesk Desktop Scanner and Digital Filing System** The NeatDesk Desktop Scanner and Digital Filing System has garnered mixed reviews, particularly from users employing it on Mac systems. Many users appreciated the speed and efficiency of this scanner compared to its portable counterpart, noting that it performs double-sided scanning as swiftly as single-sided. The OCR (optical character recognition) capabilities have received positive remarks as well, along with features that allow easy saving of scanned documents to PDF files and personal folders within the Neat software. However, issues with the software have significantly marred the user experience for some. After the release of version 4.0, reports surfaced about frequent crashes and connectivity issues, especially when syncing data to the cloud or when the computer wakes from sleep mode. A notable frustration has been the company's support team's responses, which have been perceived as dismissive of the problems users are encountering. Users have expressed dissatisfaction with what they Consider a lack of acknowledgment regarding software bugs and a desire for an immediate update to resolve these issues. While the scanner itself is praised for its performance, the software has been criticized to the point where some users are advised against purchasing the product until a stable update is released. It represents a dichotomy wherein the hardware shows promise, but the accompanying software experience is detracting from the overall satisfaction. **
