Answer: This hammer is VERY lightweight. I think you'd have a hard time getting enough force to successfully hammer your wire to the desired thickness. -

Will this hammer flatten 12 gauge copper wire?
Answer: I don’t like doing this - but the quality was really bad. The head snapped off within the first day. I was using the hammer with metal 3mm metal jewellery stamps. Wrote to the seller, haven’t heard back.

Although it is made of pine, the hammer head is well-made and sturdy. Some customers have noted that the hammer is unbalanced due to its light weight. One customer even made a new handle out of oak with a small steel weight in the bottom to balance it out. The hammer can be used for jewelry making but may not be suitable for hammering wire of different gauges as it is very lightweight. Some customers have found the hammer to be useful for hanging pictures, while others found it fell apart after the first use.
