Answer: No, just a bit over 2” wide for a notepad. I found someone on Etsy who makes matchbook notepads that will fit well. -

Can the pocket fit a normal sized pack of 52 playing cards?
Answer: I think that the cards are too fat for the pocket, you would stretch it so that you could not fit knives or tools in the smaller pockets. But, i do not have a deck of cards to try it with. Perhaps one of the other VIPERADE pouches would work?
