Answer: Yes. This would actually replace the filter and do a better job due to its size. It's probably overkill. It's made to filter hundreds of gallons. My guess is you'd never have to replace this. It will easily outlast your furness and humidifier in the average home. -

Does this filter work similarly as if the sediment filter were in a housing filter like Pendak's?
Answer: Sorry, I do not know the answer to that question. The filter is used in our drinking water cooler and I just ordered the exact replacement.
