It can be played on both the old and new Nintendo 3DS, but is better on the new 3DS as it allows for the use of Amiibo cards, which are optional but can bring certain characters to the game. However, the 17 "special" characters that require an Amiibo card should have been included in the game. Unfortunately, there is no house or progress to be made for the player themselves. Though a new copy of the game comes with one Amiibo card, sometimes used copies are sold with missing items. Overall, if you love Animal Crossing and have a 3DS, this is a must-have game.
