David Gilmour Format: Vinyl Pop WA-36582693 Editorial Review
**** David Gilmour's "On An Island" has resonated deeply with fans and critics alike, showcasing the legendary guitarist's hallmark style while branching into new, more mellow territories. The album, praised for its high production quality, features rich soundscapes free from surface noise, making it an ideal addition to any vinyl collection. Gilmour's distinctive guitar work is a highlight, evoking reflections of classics from Pink Floyd while still crafting a unique listening experience. Listeners often comment on how the album feels like a continuation of the Pink Floyd legacy, yet distinctively embodies Gilmour’s personal touch. The tracks offer a balance of introspective lyrics and soothing melodies, with standout songs like "SMILE" and "WHERE WE START" delivering a poignant depth. Although the album lacks the driving rock anthems that some might expect, it compensates with impressive guitar licks and serene arrangements, allowing fans to appreciate the subtleties of Gilmour's artistry. While some critics mention that the pacing towards the end of the album could be improved, the overall sentiment remains highly positive. Many listeners view this solo offering as one of his strongest works, emphasizing a mature sound that caters to both long-time followers of Gilmour and newcomers alike. With impeccable arrangements, this album is not only a fulfilling listen but also a testament to Gilmour’s evolution as an artist. **
