Temple of the Dog is a masterpiece of an album with intense, emotional songs that feature Chris Cornell's unparalleled vocal talent and Mike McCready's skilled guitar playing. The album's slow tracks are by no means dull, with "Pushin' Forward Back" and "Your Saviour" showcasing some faster moments and hints of funk. "Reach Down" is a long opus with vocal harmonies and several guitar solos, while "All Night Thing" features church-like organ music. The lyrics are a standout feature of the album, with "Hunger Strike" conjuring images of an ambiguous but intense nature, and "Times of Trouble" offering a harrowing depiction of addiction. Unfortunately, some customers have reported issues with the packaging of the CD, but overall, the album is a must-listen for anyone who loves alternative rock.
