Will the transducer read depth through the ice?
Answer: It's possible depending on the ice thickness. You would need to have a little water with you, pour it on the ice, and set the transducer in it. A few manufacturers make a shoot through depth only unit. I do not own one because they are not reliable (according to the reviews). The best way to know where you are at on your given lake with regard to depth before you punch a hole is to download and use Navionics on your smart phone. It isn't 100% accurate on all lakes but it will get you very reasonably close. Besides that, you can pin all of your spots so on the next outing or next year year you can walk to within 15-30 ft of where you fished last. Brian W. Chequamegon Bay Fishing Fanatics. -

Can you use when other are fishing with hummingbird around you?
Answer: You will get some interference if you are real close. I'm talking a couple of feet. Otherwise my friend and I fish together all the time and don't have trouble.
