The Nesco FD-60 Snackmaster Express Food Dehydrator is a great appliance that anyone can use to make jerky and snacks. Although the machine is somewhat loud during the drying process, it can be left in the kitchen with the door shut. Primarily, the dehydrator often makes the room smell like the food that is dried, which is a typical occurrence when drying food. Thus, it is best to dry the food in the kitchen during the winter and outside during the summer. The four-tray machine is typically enough to make dried fruits and turkey jerky, but it requires about 24 hours of runtime with 12 trays. The machine is relatively easy to clean, and the trays are dishwasher safe if removed before the drying cycle. Besides, if you want to avoid the typical colored food at a bulk food store, then making homemade dried food is superior in taste and more affordable.
