Answer: Always make sure it sits in a heat resistant surface. We use a tile or ceramic table. You can also set it on a metal, tile, or ceramic hot plate like would be used for a pot or skillet. -

Is this something I could store in the trunk of my car for disaster preparedness, or will the wax melt quickly in the high temp?
Answer: It is great for disaster preparedness. The wax will melt at high temperatures but become solid again when cool. As long as it is stored up right it should not leak. The only issue would be bumpy driving that might cause some to leak out when hot. Sealing it with plastic wrap then putting the lid on would probably solve that issue. -

Answer: You can. I took this to Hawaii in my suitcase. It seems like the same ingredients as a candle. -
